Fore! .. But There Is No Golf Course Here!
Several golf balls have recently landed in paddocks and gardens near The Leys. A golf ball struck from the nearby public footpath or rough ground can easily reach houses, horses, walkers and neighbouring property. So far nobody has been hurt, but it is only a matter of luck. If you enjoy practising your golf swing, please choose somewhere safe and appropriate. A polite request from local residents: please don’t use this area as an unofficial driving range.
Do come along to The Institute between 2.00 pm and 5.30 pm to see how Adderbury has changed over the years. Have a look through the vast display of local archive material and take the chance to talk to people who remember Adderbury “back in the day”. Discover old maps with Nick Allen, browse old photographs with Barry Davis, get hands-on with objects and magazines from our archive, and share memories There will be a charge for tea and cake so please bring cash.
You may be aware that the churchyard grass is mown and occasionally strimmed by a small team of dedicated volunteers. We could do with a couple more bodies to help us. If you are able to assist in looking after a patch then please contact Andrew Donaldson
Discover the stories being written on your doorstep. Sarah Whitton, Alistair Birch and Carol Perfitt will tell endless tales in the library. Doors open at 7.00 pm and the programme starts at 7.15 pm. Tickets at £10.00, including a glass of wine, are available in the library and at the FOCAL website
The Institute is booked; the admin is completed; the Parish Council have given a grant towards the costs so Adderbury Gardening Club’s Summer Show is good to go. The Schedules, for Adults and Juniors, are now in Adderbury Stores, the Library and on the Adderbury web page. For the adults the usual range of fruit and vegetables, plants, flowers, jams, breads, cakes etc. For the Juniors a few craft based classes, which might give them something to do in the summer holidays.
